Teaching materials, philosophy, and interior design all in one
In the southwest of Kaiserslautern, at the Vogelweh US military base, a school was built at the end of 2019 for children aged two to twelve. Over 25 percent of the students have disabilities. The school's educational concept aims to prepare students for a technology- and media-driven future with global challenges. This openness to the world is also reflected in its architecture.
Upon entering the school, visitors immediately see a world map immortalized as a relief in concrete. It spans across a building facade that is two floors high.
To create the appropriate formliner for this motif, NOE employees used CAD data to mill a negative mold and then filled it with liquid NOEplast. Since it was a cast-in-place concrete construction site, it was essential to securely attach the formliner to the formwork, a task handled by our colleagues on site. This ensured precise installation and immediate readiness of the textured formliner.
