New rowing centre on the Rotsee
Project data
Project | New rowing centre on the Rotsee |
Completion | Completed May 2016 |
Location | Rotsee |
Purpose | The infrastructure is being fundamentally redesigned and improved to make Rotsee suitable again as a venue for world championships. As well as erecting a new building, the project involves upgrading lakeside paths and other usable areas along the banks. |
Formwork systems | Textured formliners glued to supporting boards. The names of sponsors were placed on five textured formliners. The font chosen was “Replica Regular”. |
Special features | The new building had to be built in only one year. The elongated timber structure rests on two offset fair-faced concrete boxes. The whole building complex makes reference to a rowing boat out of the water on blocks, while offering a crucial advantage to users. The projecting upper part of the structure creates a canopy over the ground below, where spectators and rowers can shelter from the weather. Sponsors who have financially supported this project are immortalised by having their names cast into a concrete wall. |
